Mountain bikes are available and the fees are competitive since mountain biking has become a popular way to enjoy the island. A one day rental will run you about $15. Get one for 6 days and you're looking at about $75. Bike stores and hotels are the places to check for rentals. I prefer to explore, but guided tours are also available.
The terrain is fairly mild on most of the island, but the northern side offers some nice climbs and descents for anyone wanting more of a challenge.
There are over 300 kilometers of trails to explore, and you can expect beauty everywhere you go. There are hundreds of different kinds of birds for nature lovers, cactus forests that will keep you on the trails, and unforgettable views overlooking the Caribbean scenery below.
