Bike Size Chart
How do I measure the frame size of my mountain bike?
Bike size chart information can be found below. Use this chart to avoid buying the wrong size bike! Also, here are some basics to bike sizing that all mountain bikers need to know:
You need 3 to 4 inches of standing clearance. Stand over the bike and make sure your crotch is not in danger. You will thank me for this advice someday!
If you don't know what size your mountain bike frame is, or you want to check to see if it really is what you "think" it is, measure from the center of the crank to the top of the vertical tube (the red line in the picture).
An easy way to find your bike size (if it is fairly new) is by Google searching your bike's name or manufacturer. Some manufacturers measure their bike a little differently.
Lastly, buying the right bike size is only the first part of bike sizing. Once you have the right size frame, you will need to set your bike's adjustments to your specific needs. A bike store can help you get an initial fitting, but don't feel like you must keep your bike exactly the way the store sets it.
Pay attention and ask questions when when they set your bike's adjustments. You will probably need to make minor and incremental adjustments as you ride your bike on the trails. If you are having pain in the same places, you may need to adjust your seat tilt, seat height, handlebars, break grips, gear shifters, etc...
Generally speaking, the better the bike, the more adjustments you can make. Measure your inseam and check out the bike size chart below to find the right size frame.
